Clear Springs is located in
Polk County, Florida, adjacent to the City of Bartow and near the
cities of Lakeland and Winter Haven. Bartow has the distinction
of a rich and colorful history. It is well known for its beautiful
historic downtown district where large and numerous oak trees form
canopies over many of the paved streets, and where antique homes
house shops and restaurants. Private homes abound, many fully restored
to showcase important early 20th century ante-bellum architecture.
Lush azalea bush plantings fill in the Historic District, where
residents and visitors may explore the neighborhood’s charm by strolling
down sidewalks lit by old-fashioned carriage lights.
Bartow: Population 16,000
Founded in 1851, Bartow is a friendly Southern community rich in
history and heritage with many parks and numerous turn-of-the-century
bed and breakfast inns. The people are friendly and the atmosphere
relaxed. Families enjoy picnics, ball games, tennis and good wholesome
fun on the playgrounds. There is a substantial golfing community
where many are attracted to the public golf course while others
tee off at one of the many private clubs outside town.
The Historic District is at the heart of Bartow with many examples
of early 20th century antebellum architecture, historic street lighting
and landscaping that make the entire commercial center of Bartow
a place of beauty, activity and safety. In the Historic Downtown
there are many beautiful restaurants and shops that reflect the
Victorian era of the many restored homes. The theme is that of an
historical business district wrapped around a restored, century
old courthouse. The older surrounding neighborhoods have been refashioned
with the extension of sidewalks and street lighting that promotes
strolling to restaurants and shopping along Main Street. Housing
remains affordable to the widest range of persons, even as values
have risen consistently over the past years. Overall the redevelopment
of neighborhoods and the expansion of choice in new housing have
reinforced the stability, value and charm of the City.
Lakeland: Population 82,000
Lakeland is within fifteen minutes driving time and is home to
Florida Southern College. Lakeland also houses the largest collection
of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture in the world and one of the first
Hindu temples in the United States. In the late 90’s Lakeland was
recognized nationally by Money Magazine at the 10th “Best Place
To Live in America” for medium-sized cities in the South. The City
offers its residents an exceptional quality of life attributed to
affordability of housing, outstanding educational opportunities,
modern healthcare facilities and abundant recreational opportunities.
In the heart of downtown, Lake Mirror Park offers a historic promenade,
amphitheater and pedestrian walkway surrounded by Hollis Garden,
a breathtaking formal garden showcasing more than 10,000 flowers
and indigenous Florida plants. Specialty shops, art galleries, restaurants
and pubs come together in the Historic and Antiques District.
Winter Haven: Population 25,000
Winter Haven is home to Cypress Gardens Adventure Park, Florida’s
first theme park and is the spring training site for the Cleveland
Indians. Within the gently rolling hills of Winter Haven are 45
fresh-water lakes, with 14 connected by navigable canals known as
“The Chain of Lakes.” The community itself is an excellent location
to raise a family or to retire and enjoy the wonderful climate.
Residents and vacationers enjoy music festivals, drama and dance
performances at the Polk Community College’s 500-seat auditorium,
and the Florida Citrus Fair provides excitement that makes Winter
Haven a rare blend of cultural diversity and exhilarating festivity
